Gaborone Public Library: The Gaborone Public Library (GPL) was officially opened on the 8th April 1968, following the establishment of the Botswana National Library by an act of Parliament in 1967 as mention in BNLS profile. It is a branch under the division of Public Libraries in the Department of National Library Service. It is aimed at providing services to the community of Gaborone and the surrounding villages, which are 8km away from the library. It is located along Independence Avenue (Civic Centre) Plot 329. The library offers information materials from a wide range of sources: books, magazines, journals, newspapers, brochures, audio visuals and pamphlets to mention but a few. These information sources cover a variety of subject areas, to cater for the different information needs of the general public. The information sources are acquired, processed, stored, retrieved and circulated manually.
